Introducing: Emails!Kiez Burn isn’t just a yearly event, it’s also two de/pre-compression events,... and a year-round community. Part of the magic of an event that’s just a frame for you to bring your camp or project and do your own thing is that we get to encompass incredibly diverse outlooks life—and burning. We (spoiler warning for the survey results) won’t always see eye-to-eye, and that’s good actually. We have in common a desire to be out there and get weird. If the last (dreary, newsletter-less) years has thought us anything, it’s that we can do a minimal job on communication, and we will sell out, and people will largely get what a burn is about. Still, as the Kiezette and its competitors showed during the event, a little reporting goes a long way to create a feeling of community. Taking inspiration from them, we want to open up the newsletter, let it go a bit longer, and try to get more voices in here. This is your opportunity to share, plug your parties, pontificate, whatever you want. Bring your own dead horse, you will be edited. There’s isn't really anyone around to top-down tell you what Kiez Burn is or is not, so think less newsletter (marketing) and more newsletter (reporting and opinion). This will be long-form, light on emojis, and potentially boring. Nothing in these emails will be required reading. Graphics appreciated, German tolerated. K  Get involved with the frame makingDo you know why I'm doing this newsletter? Because nobody else was. Do you know why it'll be a wordy mess full of in-jokes, an offense to anyone with a marketing degree? Because that's how I want to do it! Kiez Burn is full of opportunities to do funny things that you're not really good at. The real Kiez Burn are the camps, all the self-organized stuff that makes it fun and interesting. Still, somebody's got to take care of the practical and legal stuff, without toilets we'd have literal shitty time. Become a lead for 2026Want to run water lines? Figure out placement? Sound policy? Gate? Hire security? Liaise with the site? Fix the website? There's so many roles available! Unlike the traditional wiki edit tournament we usually do, this year there's a form to fill out! (Please fill it out, I know you're special and want to be asked, but just fill it out, won't you?)  Join the associationKiez Burn e.V. is a non-profit association hosts the event. It’s comprised mostly of old leads and others from the hard core that love the event and want to support it’s existence. The general assembly of members is the ultimate deciding body, and joining the will give you voting rights in the board election, and other important decisions, like the event dates. (If you're already a member and need to renew your membership: do not re-apply, await further instructions). Run for the boardThink the board should be more active? Or less? Would like to gain intimate knowledge of how associations operate in Germany? Help protect our bubble of hippies from the default? The workload is not light, and some difficult decisions need to be made. Most board members serve two years, can it can be very rewarding experience. Candidates for the board are presented in pods of minimum 2 to 7 people. To nominate yourself or others as candidates to run for the board, email board@kiezburn.org.
