Dear Kiez Burners,
Welcome to one of the last emails from us!
It's not without a tiny bit of panic that we announce that we have a little more than two weeks until Build starts! But what's a burn without a tiny bit of panic?
If you're new here and you are feeling horribly unprepared, do not worry: It's all part of the process. Being 100% ready is a task that even seasoned burners struggle to accomplish. But read the Survival Guide to make sure you're not being unprepared in avoidable ways that could be a serious buzzkill during the burn. (Note that this is a living document - the text highlighted in yellow might not be up to date).
Now, let's get to business:
SHIFTS, SHIFTS, SHIFTS
499 out of 622 shifts are filled! We are getting there, but there's still a long way to go. You can be the one to sign up for the 500th shift!
What do you win? The feeling of bliss and gratitude on Saturday evening in front of the burning effigy, mesmerized by this magical thing we did and by the knowledge you were part of making it happen, like everyone around you.
This is not a festival, it's a radically participatory experiment based on 11 principles inspired by Burning Man. It's a gift from ourselves to ourselves. There's no distinction between staff that makes the event happen and guests that arrive to consume, have fun and go home. It's our collective responsibility (and joy!) as event participants to make things happen - and that includes YOU. It doesn't matter if it's your first burn, if you're not sure how to contribute, if you are already in a camp (most of us are!). Everyone is invited to join the fun! Grab a shift and gift a couple of hours of your burn to make your own and everyone else's experience better.
On June 5th there's gonna be a volunteer appreciation picnic at Treptower Park where you're gonna have the chance to meet the team that you've been working with and get to know your shiftmates. More info on the Facebook event!
BUILD & EARLY ENTRY
Build is when we make shit happen. It's a wonderful time to be on site, where the beat of the music is replaced by to the sound of power tools and intimate gatherings in the evenings after a long work day. We still have lots of shifts to fill during build - you'll get a warm meal during your shift days and the chance to be there for the best part of Kiez Burn. Do you want to...

Remember: if you're coming to build or staying for strike, you need to register for Early Entry! The deadline is June 5th.
LEADS WANTED!
Due to unexpected issues, we are looking for a few more leads.
- Power Strike Lead
The Power Lead won't be a Kiez Burn for strike, so we need someone to finish the job! You'll need to collect all cable on Strike Monday with van, clean them and be prepared for taking on Tuesday. Would be good to be there on Saturday build, so you can take a look at the full cable boxes. Contact @Intulo on Discord (Sven). - Materials Lead
Secret Forest has some materials that they can rent or lend to camps or production. We need someone to coordinate communication between Secret Forest and camps/production and make sure everything is delivered and returned. Contact @martinkknitterprofessor on Discord. - Water co-lead
We need someone to find out and communicate to camps info about water connections at the new site. Contact @chiaraca on Discord.
Please please please only reach out if you can 100% commit to being communicative, reliable and reachable in the next few weeks. Taking a role so close to the event and abandoning it a week later is seriously damaging to Kiez Burn and it unnecessarily consumes a lot of volunteer time from the people onboarding you. We don't want them to burn out, right? 🙏💙
KIEZE CORNER
A Kiez or camp is a collective of people sharing resources to create something together. It can be as simple as a kitchen and three campchairs, and as complicated as a big dancefloor or performance space.
Camp registration for 2024 is closed. If you're looking for an existing camp to join, here is a list!
If you're not part of a Kiez, you'll be camping in the Freecamping area, before Gate.
Vehicle Permit
Do you need to drive a vehicle passed the Gate? Do you want to sleep in your cozy van close to your camp? Friend, you need to ask first! Fill out the request for a vehicle permit, reading carefully the description in the form. Deadline: 7th of June
Power
Reminder to all Kieze and Dreamers: we need your electricity needs by June 3! Find out how to here
Side note: If your camp or dream has not registered your builders for Early Entry, do it now! The deadline is June 5th.
Materials
Need extra materials for your camp? Secret Forest might be able to lend or rent us some of their stuff, including fridges, tables&benches and other nice things. Check out this list and request what you need ASAP
(Note: no guarantees, and production areas get dibs!)
The job of coordinating the renting&borrowing of these materials is unexpectedly open again. So if you want to be 100% sure it happens, you might need to volunteer yourself!
